On September 4th, 2025, the Gulf Research Center Foundation Brussels (GRCFB) hosted a roundtable with H.E. Dr. Abdel Aziz Aluwaisheq , Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Negotiations of the GCC, to discuss the dynamics and prospects of EU-GCC partnerships given the constantly evolving and changing landscapes of global governance. The discussion focused on the seven core pillars of the EU-GCC strategic partnership, celebrating its achievement and addressing its lacunae. From political and security cooperation to connectivity, trade, and investment, the partnership remains an opportunity to depart from traditional frameworks and encourage complementary capacity building of both blocs to better address the shared regional and global challenges of the current world order.

The roundtable comes ahead of tomorrow’s EU-GCC joint council meeting, offering an opportunity for different stakeholders to exchange ideas, disseminate potential discussion points, and assist in formulating meaningful recommendations for a more coherent, inclusive, and effective EU-GCC collaboration.
