Dr. Abdulaziz Sager, Chairman of the Gulf Research Center, participated in the ‘Council of Councils’ tele-conference, which was organised by the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR)

The conference focused on the Corona pandemic and the emerging global governance challenges. Dr. Abdulaziz discussed the effects of the Corona pandemic on the future of the global system and international cooperation. It is worth noting that this conference is held annually for a selected group of 28 Think Tanks from a number of countries from different continents of the world, in which heads of these Think Tanks participate to discuss global challenges, direct high-level international attention and effective political responses to these challenges. The Gulf Research Center is the only member participating in this council from the Arab countries

 

Dr. Abdulaziz Sager the Lead Co-chair of Task Force 5 ‘The Future of Multilateralism and Global Governance’ and the Chairman of the Gulf Research Center moderated the panel of the T20 webinar on ‘COVID-19 and the Future of Multilateralism’

This event included inspiring opening remarks followed by interesting presentations and discussions with the panellists, and ended with updates on the policy briefs and the impact of COVID-19 on some of the work done by the T20 Task Force 5.

Dr. Abdulaziz bin Sagr, Chairman of the Gulf Research Center, participated in a session titled "The future of Iraqi-Gulf relations in the new Iraqi government" which was organized by the Iraqi Advisory Council on Monday, 18 May 2020, in which he discussed the future of the Gulf-Iraqi relations in the period of the new Iraqi government, he also explained how these relations can flourish and develop in the interest of stability and economic development in the region. He answered a number of questions, including his vision of the new Iraqi government, and Iranian and Turkish influence in Iraq.

Dr. Abdulaziz Sagr, Chairman of the Gulf Research Center, participated in a Webinar titled "The Gulf after Corona and the security, economic and social challenges for post-Corona from a security perspective, the economic dimension and its implications at the level of the government and private sectors" which was organized by ( Majlis AlKhonji) on Thursday 14 May, 2020.

During his participation Dr. Abdulaziz focused on the security, economic and health repercussions of the crisis on the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council and the great efforts and precautionary measures implemented by the Gulf governments in the framework of facing the virus and its consequences. Dr. Abdulaziz discussed the most important potential challenges after the pandemic. The seminar gathered a group of specialised researchers to review various experiences in dealing with the crisis in the Arab region and internationally.

Dr. Abdulaziz Sagr, Chairman of the Gulf Research Center, participated in a session titled "Preserving peace in light of the outbreak of the emerging Coruna virus pandemic" at the seventh annual Stockholm Peace and Development Forum, which was held by the Swedish Foreign Ministry and Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), Tuesday, 12 May 2020. They discussed the opportunities and challenges facing efforts to maintain peace in light of the pandemic.
