GRC Vice President Participates in Closed-Door GCC–Nordic Think Tanks Workshop at the Doha Forum 2025

Dr. Ahmed Sager, Vice President of the Gulf Research Center (GRC), took part in a closed-door workshop on GCC–Nordic think tanks, organized on the sidelines of the Doha Forum 2025.

The workshop brought together representatives from leading think tanks and research institutions from the GCC and Nordic countries, providing a confidential platform for in-depth discussion and the exchange of perspectives on regional and international issues of shared concern.

Discussions focused on enhancing policy dialogue, identifying avenues for cooperation between research institutions, and exploring ways to strengthen collaboration on global challenges affecting both regions. The meeting highlighted the importance of sustained engagement between Gulf and Nordic think tanks in promoting informed policymaking and strategic cooperation.

- The panel brought together senior policymakers and experts, including:

- H.E. Dr. Shaya Al-Zindani, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Republic of Yemen

- Mr. Hans Grundberg, United Nations Special Envoy of the Secretary-General to Yemen

- Mr. Maged Al-Madhaji, Chairperson, Sana’a Center for Strategic Studies

- The session was moderated by Ms. Maysaa Shuja al-Deen, Senior Researcher at the Sana’a Center for Strategic Studies.

Discussions focused on the prospects for launching an inclusive political process in Yemen, examining the feasibility of achieving a durable ceasefire and assessing the readiness of local, regional, and international stakeholders to engage through a renewed and constructive approach to conflict resolution.

The session contributed to a deeper understanding of the evolving dynamics shaping the Yemen conflict and highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts to support peace, stability, and long-term political solutions in the region.

He addressed current regional security developments and the evolving role of U.S.-Gulf relations in shaping regional stability.

Dr. Abdulaziz Sager, Chairman of the Gulf Research Center (GRC), took part as a keynote speaker in a session hosted by the Bruno Kreisky Forum for International Dialogue in Vienna on October 27, 2025.

During the discussion, Dr. Sager highlighted the latest developments in the regional security landscape and their implications for geopolitical stability in the Middle East. He also examined the dynamics of U.S.-Gulf relations and how these strategic ties contribute to safeguarding regional balance and strengthening long-term cooperation frameworks.
